Blogs Trackback

Do you remember those personal journal girls use to keep. Yes, the secret diaries which they used to fill in every night. Filling the pages with whatever happened that day. Blogs are kind of like those journals only a lot more sophisticated and are not at all girly stuff! People had been maintaining these blogs a long time before the word came into being but those blogs were limited only to their own personal computers. The term weblog came into existence because these blogs are kept online. Open to anyone who wants to go through them. It has been only a few years that the name blog was coined and in that small period of time the craze of blogs has touched great peaks.

Things initially started with personal blogs, then came business blogs and in no time class blogs, university blogs, fashion blogs, television personality blogs were on the World Wide Web. They spread the web like a blazing fire. The best part about blogs is that you get comments as soon as you update them. This highly interactive feature makes people sit on blogs for hours and hours. The bloggers should know how to get these comments and how to reply to them in order to keep his blog at a reputable level. Blogs have Trackbacks and Pingbacks which allow users to comment upon your articles and posts and recommend them by placing links in other blogs. In short it is a method of notifying bloggers about different sites where their blogs have been mentioned.

Trackback can be understood by an example. Let’s see if I make a comment on my friend’s blog. My friend wants to reply to my comment but also wants visitors of her blog to see what she had to say. So what my friend is going to do is that she is going to post a reply comment on her blog and send me a Trackback on my blog. I will receive the Trackback and display it as a comment to my original post. This will contain a link to my friend’s blog. Now, readers of both blogs can read posts from both people and get to know the complete story.

The Trackback is a very interesting thing. You can do a few more things other that the basic purpose mentioned above. You can display the songs that you recently played on your WinAmp. You can even do that from iTunes. Memigo is another interesting use of Trackback. It is actually a site that collects news and articles and makes it available for the reader to rate them. You can even tell your Memigo to check you RSS feed for links to news articles that you have posted. One of the more complicated task that Trackback can do for you is that it can collect all the comments that you make on other blogs. Once you set your Trackback at this task you will realize how interesting your blog has turn out to be.
